The Festival of the Diaspora

A platform that reinvents itself yearly

FOTD100a new 100-honoree leadership award added for 2026, nomination pipeline included, no rebuild
3 new program trackspitch competition, mayoral summit and exhibition hall, added edition over edition
One platformticketing, donations and competition entries, handled the same way every year

The Challenge

The Festival of the Diaspora is not a static organization with a static website. It is an annual gathering that moves to a new city across the Americas every year, with a new host city, visual theme, speaker roster and ticketing details each time. A typical nonprofit site gets built once and coasts for years; FOTD needed a partner who could deliver a full redesign and relaunch every single year, on a fixed conference date, without ever missing a launch.

The Engineering Strategy

HashOne Global builds and delivers the platform on WordPress, using Advanced Custom Fields and Elementor so each year's redesign is efficient reuse rather than a rebuild from zero; city, theme, speakers, agenda and ticketing live as structured content rather than hardcoded templates.

Gravity Forms handles registration, ticketing and the content-proposal workflow for speakers, the Google Maps API embeds venue and city details for each new location, and the platform runs on Apache and MySQL hosting. That structure is what lets HashOne turn around a full visual and content refresh, new city, new theme, new speaker roster, on a fixed annual deadline, year after year.

The Result

  • FOTD100 a new 100-honoree leadership award added for 2026, nomination pipeline included, no rebuild
  • 3 new program tracks pitch competition, mayoral summit and exhibition hall, added edition over edition
  • One platform ticketing, donations and competition entries, handled the same way every year

Five years in, the platform has not just kept pace with a growing festival, it has absorbed entirely new program tracks each year without needing to be rebuilt around them.
